How Can sore Throat Along With Chest Congestion be Treated?
Hello. We have a case of something that begins with what looks like pink eye (green goop on inner corner of eyes, and pink eyes). It is accompanied by a severe soar throat and congestion (nasal and chest). My 2 year old ran a fever and did not complain as much of his throat but myself and my 8 year old just got it and have a severe sore throat especially at night. Does this sound viral? How does a doctor determine if it is viral or bacterial?

As a first line management, you can do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. A short course of antibiotics for five to seven days preferably Amoxiclav.
